Liu, Manjin: The purpose of educational reform is to meet the interests of a few privileged people
柳鳗津(Liu,Manjin)
There have been many measures of educational reform in recent years, however these reforms are not for education, but for politics. The reform is not to protect a citizen’s rights protected by the law, but to reinforce the administrative power for the few government officials. The educational reform in China was a mandatory reform implemented without democracy. The purpose of the reform is not to develop education, but to meet the interests of a few people.
The history of China’s educational reform shows that it is a tool the few privileged government officials use to enslave the Chinese people and keep the society stable under the excuse of developing education and market economy. The educational reform was carried out in an authoritarian way, not a democratic way. All the measure and policies of the educational reform were not approved by the Committee of Representatives nor commented by people, but drafted by a few people based on their own imagination.
The educational reform cannot be successfully implemented until the democratic political reform is carried out. We look forward to real educational reform and “satisfying” education carried out by decision-makers, so that education won’t be the tool of the few privileged people, the birthplace of a few bureaucrats’ collusion, or the cradle of corruption.
