Li, Rui: The alarm for deteriorating environment in China has rung
李蕊 (Li, Rui)
The status of China’s regional environment has been far from satisfactory for years. In order to develop the economy, the Chinese government has comprehensively exploited natural resources and stimulated industrial development. As a result, during the manufacturing process, a few industrial corporations have dumped unpurified polluted water into rivers and lakes and emit dust and poisonous gas into air. In a lot of areas in China, dust is widespread and garbage can be seen.
Due to the over exploitation of mineral resources, the acres of forestry have been decreased exponentially; the lost of water and land has been increasing, which expedites desertification, global warming, acid rain and flood and drought. These are all consequences of environmental destruction.
The Chinese government must realize the consequences of environmental deterioration brought to all human beings; the alarm for deteriorating environment in China has rung. We request the Chinese government to enhance the legislation and execution of environmental protection and the awareness of all Chinese people so that environmental protection won’t be foreseen during the economic development.
