Internet was brought into China on September 14, 1987 and opened up a brand new door for the closed China. Chinese people showed great passion for internet; young people, in particular, have been eager to be trained for internet. A strong connection has been built between the Chinese and internet. The great power the Internet brings gives the Chinese people a change to know, understand and participate in the world; at the mean time, people from around the globe can know, acknowledge China. The internet has had a positive impact on China’s civilization and development.
When internet entered China, the global society and people in pursuit of liberty and freedom hoped that the media blackout set by the Chinese government could be broken through by the popularization of internet and democracy could be advanced. However, the facts broke down people’s wishes. The Chinese government spent a fortune blocking, monitoring the internet and restrict the freedom of speech. For a very long time, the Chinese government has set to a system and censored the internet. The methods have been tough.
The Chinese government shouldn’t defy the equality and freedom of the internet and should open up the complete access to internet, since the internet is of great help to pushing forward the establishment of democracy, the reasonable development of economy and enhance the connection between China and the world.
