Xingyue Ye: The Food Safety Problems Caused by Conspiracy between Immoral Merchants and Government

Recently, many food safety accidents happened in China. They have seriously threatened the life and health of ordinary Chinese people. Some immoral merchants who have no consciousness put poisonous and dangerous chemicals into food in order to make the food look good so as to sell it at good price. To make more profits, they can utilize all kinds of strategies. On one hand, the government promises to severely punish these merchants. On the other hand, it always lets the merchants easily get away from their crime. To analyze the reason, it is because many large food manufacture companies are the single largest tax payers in an area. At the same time, these food merchants has bribed and paid money to officials in the government. Therefore, the merchants get more and more ignorant to the health and life of consumers. They even dare to add poisonous chemicals into food. As a result, extreme food safety accidents were created.
In today’s China, people are not discussing about which food is poisonous, but about whether or not there is any food is safe to eat. The continuous happening food safety problems make people never believe the safety of food in their mouth anymore. The health department of the government as the department responsible for food safety has done nothing so far. It even becomes the helper in making the food unsafe. The corruptive officials are the fundamental makers of these food safety accidents. A government which can’t even make sure the safety of people’s food, how can it be trusted to be able to govern the country well?
