Fu, Guolong: Call on the Chinese government to protect food safety

Accidents of food safety almost happen every day in China. Produce and bi-products from some regions seem beautiful, however, which contains far more toxic substances and pesticide residuals than stated by health standards. Therefore, the group poisoning accidents caused by food safety happens from time to time.
Whenever food safety accidents and group poisoning happens, the regional government and government officials could always find excuses to explain the group poisoning accidents. The official media uses the methods of reporting and wording to exclude themselves from being responsible.
It is still remembered that, after the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the media disclosed the Sanlu poisonous mild power. At the food market back then, at least 23 kinds of dairy products were tested to have contained melamine more than standards. However, Sanlu Group was the only one being punished; all the rest milk powder groups weren’t not punished. This has helped the unscrupulous traders of illegal speculation and caused potential risks on people’s health and life security. In the past few years, food safety accidents still happen. As of now, the food safety in China has become serious social nuisance. Therefore, we strongly call on the Chinese government to show sincerity of food safety protection.
