Four or even more years ago, the most viewed TV commercial is that: on the green grassland, a milk cow is eating grass leisurely, when the narrator says “Extract high-quality raw milk” the view turns to the assembly line, where cans of milk powder are being produced and the narrator says “Sterile plant, automation management, thousands of testing procedures……”, then the view turns to mothers’ smiley faces and the narrator says “Sanlu infant milk powder, the national testing-exemption product, the best choice for mothers!”
When millions of mothers happily purchased the milk powder, misery started to approach them. Years later, more and more children with kidney stones were diagnosed nationwide and physically and mentally exhausted mothers finally found out the misery was Sanlu infant milk powder.
The final conclusion was that melamine tested from the milk powder was too much to pass the test. These mothers were furious: what thousands of testing procedures? What national testing-exemption product? Their roars and helpless tears wouldn’t help bring health back to their children.
“Deception and lies” are the character of the Chinese government and government officials. Deception and lies made Sanlu infant milk powder the so-called “testing-exemption product”, which gained trust from many Chinese mothers; at the same time, “testing-exemption product” gave convenience to China’s local governments and companies to commit crimes. Profits have made many participating government officials and company managers rich. The incident of Sanlu poisonous mild powder illustrates perfectly the hypocrisy of the government; illustrates that the food safety threatens people’s health and even life; testifies serious defects in Chinese social system.
