Zhai, Qiwei: The Chinese government must improve human rights in China
翟启伟(Zhai,Qiwei)
The Chinese government has been claiming about improving human rights, but has been violently suppressing people’s urges of human rights. The government’s improvement of human rights is not to let people have human rights. Under CCP’s dictatorship, the Chinese people are overwhelmed by heavy exactions. Most people are poor and living a hard life, workers are laid off and farmers have lost their farm land. However, government officials are corruptive. The government is still arresting, holding in custody, and repatriating petitioners and suppressing dissidents, human rights activists and religious people. The human rights situation of Chinese people haven’t been improved.
Democracy is the best protection of human rights and human rights are the necessary basis of democracy. In a democracy country, people have basic human rights and government officials and people are equal in front of law, and people’s human rights are protected by law. The reality in China is that there is no hope for democracy and human rights can’t be protected. It is very common that human rights are violated and the government is suppressing people severely; if people complain, they will be arrested, sent to labor camp and sentenced.
Both the government and government officials must put human rights as priority in order to protect people’s basic human rights. If people can’t gain human rights by using their own rights, then human rights situation in China can’t be improved fundamentally.
