Wu, Lixia: Why do some Chinese leave their country

Now there are many Chinese people that leave their home and career, say farewell to their wives and children and their elderly parents to come to overseas. Some even died for this. Why did this happen?
The reason is that people don’t want to live in a country where there is no freedom of speech, organizations, publishing and elections. They don’t want to compromise to the dictators that call themselves great. They don’t want to drink Sanlu poisonous milk powder, eat fake eggs, poisonous vegetables and food that is fried with waste oil. No wonder many Chinese ask: “What can we eat?” Regular working class can’t afford to buy high-priced houses; young people can’t afford to get married; college graduates can’t find a job….. All these reasons force those people in seek of freedom to leave their home and motherland.
The reason why the immigration wave catches global attention is that the economy is developing, and the number of rich people and overseas investment is increasing, why that many poor and rich people want to immigrate to other countries? The reason is that the accomplishments of the open policy in the past 30 years didn’t benefit the society or improve regular people’s life. Most of the accomplishments have been taken away by government officials and speculators. Most people can’t see any hope. When their hope can’t be realized, they have no choice but to leave.
