Jin, Zhushan: The Chinese government should be responsible for people’s interests
金洙山(Jin,Zhushan)
Democracy represents the majority’s will and democracy is also a reflection of the relationship between the government and people. The political power of a democratic country is not all owned by the government and government officials can’t violate people’s rights at their will. If a government ignores or goes against people’s will, it will not survive. People can vote to change the government. People in democratic countries can release their discontent or protest against the government with free expressions so that the society is stable and the economy can continuously develop.
The Chinese communist government states that “all state power belongs to people”, “protect people’s right to know, to participate, to express and oversight”; in fact, the Chinese people don’t have these rights and the so-called “people are the masters” doesn’t mean anything. The key to China’s social problems are that people’s rights are protected and officials’ rights are expanded. The power is owned by the Chinese communist government. Governmental power is owned by officials, not by people. Therefore, CCP government officials won’t be responsible for people’s interests.
Besides democratic reforms in China, issues of constitutionality, human rights, education, and environmental protection also need to be solved. Democratic political reforms must be implemented in China. Only a democratic government can dissolve, suppress, restrict and oversight government officials’ power so that the government and government officials can really serve the people.
