Yang, Cheng: Why Chinese People’s Human Rights Can’t be Guaranteed
Yang,Cheng
In terms of the current Chinese society, the root of lack of basic human rights for Chinese people lies in the autocratic system, among which the basic characteristic is rule of people rather than rule of law. Because it’s the supervisor instead of the law determines the behavior of the officials, the officials are not supervised by people.
In today’s China, officials are not empowered by people because they are not elected. Hence, their power is absolute. They take advantage of the power at hand to benefit themselves through sweet talks and bribes etc..They don’t see people at all in their eyes, who are just slave to them. Thus, it is common in China to see Chinese officials violate bully ordinaries and people’s rights.
Inside the government, it follows that they play as shield for each other, hence the administrative corruption. Executive branches interfere with the judicial system, causing judicial corruption and disregard and disrespect for law. This shows that in China it is normal that basic human rights of people cannot be guaranteed.
