Zhang, Shiqian: Chinese People should Have the Freedom of Speech

Chinese constitution states the rights of freedom of speech of Chinese people. However, in 60 years of CCP’s regime, such freedom of speech is but a lip service. It is constrained in life by government. People are not allowed to publicly talk about negative stuff recognized by the government, such as democracy, freedom and human rights.
Freedom of speech benefits the social stability and social consensus, improving unification among people, promoting the evolvement of civilization, establishing the social core value system. Civil Rights and Political Rights of International Convention stipulates that everyone has the right to freely opinion himself, which is showing respect to others’ rights or reputation.
People in democratic country has the freedom of speech. Chinese government should learn fromthese democractic nations, developing freedom of peech step by step. Chinese people and media need freedom of speech, which can promote Chinese society towards civilization.
