Li, Yan Ping: advocates for the performance of multiparty political system in China
李艳萍(Li,yanping)
The Chinese Communist Party’s one-party dictatorship has existed for more than 60 years; they initiated the Cultural Revolution; they suppressed the Tian’anmen Square Massacre happened in June 4, 1989; also they blocked Falun Gong in China and persecute Falun Gong practitioners, all of which are tragedies and the product of a autocratic government. Presently in China, the Chinese authorities are still persecuting people from all walks of life seeking democracy, restricting freedom of speech and religious freedom. Many civilians are arrested by the Chinese Communist authority, and detained and lost their freedom. They suffered tremendously both physically and mentally; moreover, some of them even lost their lives.
In countries where only one party is the ruling party, the corruption problem is never a rare case. A high percentage of people are involved in corruption, and they lack the consciousness of democracy; they cannot participate in and discuss government and political affairs, not even to attend the selection for the government and officials.
In democratic countries where multiple parties hold office in rotation, the executive, legislative and judicial powers are separated. Their citizens enjoy a active political life, and they have the consciousness of democracy. The power of the government and officials are transparent, public-known, constrained by laws and supervised by the public. Corruption can rarely be seen in such democratic countries. Therefore, we call for the performance of multiparty system in China.
