Corruption in China has become a persistent social ailment, which has not been cured after a long time treatment and got even worse.By ‘getting worse’, we mean that the number of officials involved in corruption is becoming bigger and bigger, and the amount of money embezzled by corrupted officials is becoming larger, which is counted in the unit of a hundred million. Furthermore, corruption has penetrated into all walks of life; officials are engaged in corruption as well as businessmen; doctors are obsessed with corrupted dealings as well as people’s teachers.In China, as long as power exists, corruption has its root.Although the Chinese government utilized various methods to arrest the spread of corruption, they have not made it up till now.The Chinese people are far from being satisfied and have their opinions about it.Some of them even lost their hope for the cure of corruption.In democratic countries in the world, corruption can seldom be seen there.China has to make up its mind to learn from the democratic countries about their advanced experience of anti-corruption.What exactly is their experience of anti-corruption? The key is a democratic system and an independent judicial system. A democratic and ruled-by-law society would definitely have less corrupted officials.Therefore the corruption level is a significant sign for evaluating whether a society is democratic and whether a judicial system is independent. The prevailing trend of corruption in China suggests that what China needs most is democracy and rule-by-law.
