Wen, Zhen Yu: we cannot tolerate corruption in the education system in China

Since the reform and opening up policy in China, the public image of teachers in people’s hearts has changed. Many negative reports about teachers can be seen on newspapers. Some schools focus their attention totally on how to increase the proportion of students entering schools of a higher grade: these teachers leave a huge amount of assignments regardless of the students at such a young age; some teachers place their students’ names on the score lists in the order of how much money their parents bribed them; some teachers indulge themselves in their own businesses after class and apparently making money has become a second job, which directly results in their lack of preparation for the class, and they just handle it with carelessness.
The main reason why these teachers lack ideals is that they are under the influence of social customs. In the mean time, another reason that cannot be ignored is that the Chinese government ignores the importance of education; the teaching in China cannot meet the needs of financial development, leading to demise of morality of teachers. What’s more, after the Chinese government carried out the industrialization of education, ‘putting money above everything else’ has spread from the public society to the noble classes.
It is urgent for Chinese education to initial a reform in the education system, improve their basic qualities and moral standards, which will directly affect the future development of China. The blackboard should always be a place where truth is written, while fame and gain should be erased.
