Hu, Xiaofang: a democratic system could restrain the government and officials’ powers
胡晓芳(Hu,Xiaofang)
All the corruptions in China can be divided as power corruptions, in other words, officials are engaged in corruption and money-power trade immediately after they gain some kind of powers. Seen from the modern-day China’s situation, little power is accompanied with low level of corruption, and great power always means high level of corruption. The source of corruption is the corruption in the government, and the source of the corruption in the government is the national political system.
Corruption has brought agony to the Chinese people. Although the government has performed some anti-corruption movements, the problem of corruption has become more and more severe. Government officials and cadres keep on their corruption practices. With the government investigating other people’s corruption incidents, new corruption incidents are popping up quickly. Why is that? Corruption remains incessant after repeated prohibition because the root cause still exists in China, which is the dictatorial political system and the common interest of all officials.
As long as corruption will bring tragedies to Chinese people, and this problem lies on the political system, China has to perform a political reform, and establish a democratic political system monitored by multiple parties. Only in that way, the powers of government and officials could be restrained, and corruption can be eliminated from the bottom root.
