Hu, Xiaofang: the Chinese government has the responsibility to enable every student to enter schools
胡晓芳(Hu,Xiaofang)
The education development is a key factor to evaluate a country’s level and potential of development.Thirty years after the Reform and opening-up policy, the economy in China has developed rapidly, as well as many coastal cities. However, the education in China does not proceed as expected. The education developments in the urban areas and in the rural areas are unbalanced; the education developments in economically developed areas and in economically backward areas are unbalanced. One crucial reason of the unbalanced education is that there are defects in the educational system. The regulations on compulsory education exist in name only, and the education system has become an industry. The educational budget is made regardless of the poor population living in poverty-stricken areas. For years, students in poor areas have to sit in badly equipped classrooms, without any air-conditioner.There are only a few items in the classrooms, several chalks, a piece of blackboard and a textbook.Although the schools are tatty, some students from even poorer families still cannot afford it.The economy of China developed a lot, and education also has to develop; economy and education need to develop simultaneously. Meanwhile, the educational system has to perform a reform. There are close links between the educational system and the political system. We call on the Chinese government to attach much greater importance to education reform, and increase the budget for it, also use the limited education funding to improve students’ condition, so that every student can afford going to school.Only by revitalizing education, China can be revitalized too。
