Yang, Yongqing: Human Rights Fighter in China
杨永清(Yang,Yongqing)
China, as one of the countries who has signed the Declaration of Human Rights in the United Nation, should protect the basic human rights of its people. But in the last few decades, people’s human rights suffer as a lot of workers are laid off, farmers’ land are taken away by the government, children have to drop out of school for unaffordable tuition fee, the elderly citizens die alone without receiving treatments. Common citizens in China don’t have the right to raise suggestions to the government, let alone criticizing the government as there is no freedom of speech in China. People's fundamental rights written in the constitution are not guaranteed.
It is common in China for officers and governors to abuse the public rights. They are extremely corrupted and manipulate their power to bully the ordinary citizens. People will get arrested, persecuted to disability or even death if they protest against the government.
For many years, human rights in China are continuously being persecuted. However, the Chinese government never keeps its promise to improve its people’s human rights. The wrong doing of Chinese government has completely violated the clauses of The Declaration of Human Rights. As a result, we Democrats strongly urge Chinese government to carry out further discussion of human rights with its people. We also call on Chinese government to comply with the Declaration of human rights and improve the current situation of human rights of its people.
