Wang, Guodong: legislation and enforcement is the key to strengthen environmental protection
王国栋(Wang,Guodong)
China's economy is in rapid development and the industrial-scale is also in growth, the environment is deteriorating. In just a few decades, China has become one of the regions in the world that have suffered serious environmental pollution; environmental pollution has led to the frequent occurrence of a variety of natural disasters, which mainly appears in the form of: first, the water resources are decreasing; China is one of the countries in the world that have serious water shortage, water scarcity is in both rural areas and urban areas. Many plant's industrial wastewater and urban sewage run out of their original source by direct emissions, which polluted seriously the country's major river systems. Second, the forest and grassland are in degradation; water loss and soil erosion are more and more popular; dust storms is also on the rise.
Since the Chinese government advocates strongly to vigorously develop industry, industrial pollution is becoming more serious, environmental pollution is a major killer of the environment. Such as factories of paper making, machinery processing, steel making, steel rolling, casting, building materials, food processing, chemical and other wastewater discharges, emissions, pollution caused by solid waste directly endanger the environment of China.
China's serious environmental pollution problems mainly resulted from policy problems, the government should attach great importance to environmental protection when they put great effort in developing the economy; also they need to enhance the legislation and enforcement of environmental protection, so that there will be substantial progresses for environmental protection.
