Zhang, Lin: Let Us Eternally Remember the June Forth Movement of 1989
张琳(Zhang,Lin)
22 years ago, in the wee hours of June 4, 1989, in order to maintain its autocratic dominant position, the Communist Party of China mobilized full-armed regular troops, dispatch armored cars, use machine guns, drove into the Tian’anmen Square, slaughtered students and the ordinary people by military force. Those students and citizens demanded the Chinese government to “punish the corrupt officials, and propel political reform”, however, thousands of protesters fell down at last. June Fourth Movement of 1989, a world-famous movement as well as a democratic and patriotic movement, was relentlessly suppressed by the Communist Party of Chinese government.
22 years have been a history already, but people have never forgotten the June Forth Movement. Nowadays, people from all over the world use a variety of forms to commemorate those people who bravely struggled for ideals. People of that time, struggled for China’s tomorrow, some sacrificed their own lives, some lost their arms and legs, and some became permanently disabled. However, in Chinese people’s minds, they are all great heroes of indomitable spirit, their gallant deeds would go down in history.
June Forth Movement of 1989 was mercilessly repressed, but Chinese people would never stop their steps of seeking for democracy and freedom. Although the Chinese people have to suffer setbacks, meet difficulties, and even bleed or sacrifice, they will never give up. We believe that China will implement the separation of powers among the executive, legislative and judicial branches, and realize a democratic society of multi-party system.
