Lin, Qingmei: the Government Has the Responsibility and Obligation to Attach Importance to Environmental Protection
林清妹(Lin,Qingmei)
The Chinese officials of all levels crave for greatness and success. To their one-sided thinking, the “industrial output value” is regarded as “political achievements”. They permanently and blindly pursue industrial output value, without paying attention to the work concerning environmental protection. The value of industrial output is multiplied up, and economic benefits are also increasing remarkably, while the environment is polluted fatally, the water, air and the natural environment is constantly deteriorating.
The problem of environmental pollution in many areas is extremely noticeable, China has became one of the most environment-deteriorated countries. “All for economic development” that advocated by the Chinese government, is a “murderer” that brings disastrous consequences to the environment. Dozens of years ago, there is a well-known policy across China: allow a number of people to become rich first, and then drive more common prosperity. The severe results caused by this policy are: the problem of environmental deterioration is getting worse, the serious environmental pollution is not only damaging its own country, but also bringing disaster to environmental safety of some countries bordering China.
As a super country having the largest population and fastest growing economy, China has the responsibility and obligation to attach importance to the work regarding environmental protection. The Chinese government must solve the problem of environmental pollution, increase the investment in environmental preservation, and make contribution to improving the environment.
