Cheng, Jianghe: China’s Despotic System Is the Root of Corruption
程江和(Cheng,Jianghe)
In today’s society of China, the corrupt phenomenon exists everywhere, the Chinese official circle can be considered as the most corrupt place. The Chinese government is a place clustered with officials, thus, the government is the official circle. The corrupt officials indicate corrupt official circle, corrupt government, and corrupt social system.
Nowadays, corruption makes the Chinese people lead an unfair life, leads to a rise in the cost of the public’s living, brings about the corruption of public morals, and results in a morally bankrupt society. The Chinese people suffer greatly from oppression and exploitation which are provided by the corrupt officials. For the sake of social stability and popular appeasement, the Chinese government takes lots of measures to fight against corruption. In recent years, the anti-corruption becomes increasingly intense, however, the number of corrupt officials is rising along with the growing amount of money involved in corruption cases.
The officials of the Chinese government monopolize the government’s power. Their powers could not be under the restriction of law. Absolute power results in absolute corruption, which is a universally accepted law. China has become the most corrupt country since the China Communist Party held China’s sovereign power more than six decades ago. As a corrupt dictatorial system is the root of corruption, the Chinese government should blame its system for the problem of corruption. To reform China’s dictatorial system will make anti-corruption more productive.
