Gao, Shuzhen: The Phenomenon of Chinese Official’s Corruption Is Getting Worse
高淑贞(Gao,Shuzhen)
How far are the Chinese officials involved in corruption? It is universally acknowledged by the Chinese people that corruption exists everywhere, and there is no honest and upright official. However, the Chinese government claims that the corrupt officials are merely in a tiny minority, a majority of officials are honest and upright. It is clear that the Chinese people’s words are true and credible, while what the Chinese government claims is unauthentic and suspect. Why? That’s because the Chinese government always lies to the public, what the masses say can measure if the government and officials are incorruptible. Facing the corrupt officials, the entire country is penetrated with discontent, and the Chinese people are suffering untold misery.
The corrupt officials always say that they can eat what they want to eat, they can play what they want to play, they can travel abroad to enjoy pleasant life, as money is not a problem for them they do not need to worry about money. They spend a large sum of money with a stroke of the pen. The amount of money, it depends on how much they’d like to spend. When visited by their relatives and friends, they peculate public funds to entertain guests. A lot of power which the Chinese officials hold is beyond foreign officials’ reach.
It is frequently reported by the media that the Chinese corrupt officials openly and unscrupulously embezzle huge amounts of money, the amount of money involved in corruption cases is unthinkable, and the degree of corruption becomes increasingly severe. It can be said that such corruption phenomenon does not exist at all times and in all countries. All is caused by China Communist Party’s one-party dictatorship. Consequently, it is inevitable and necessary to end dictatorship in China and realize democratic system.
