Zhang, Fenglian: the Public’s Right to Freedom of Speech Can Not Be Deprived
张凤莲(Zhang,Fenglian)
The common with no right to freedom of speech is the main feature that indicates the long-term persecution the Chinese people suffer under the China communist government’s rule. The current government bans the common from airing their opinions freely; forbids the public to openly express their opinions of the government, and prohibits the people from criticizing the government and officials. Regardless of articles or speech, anything that is considered as disadvantage by the government will be restrained. Under the high-pressure control of China Communist Party, every Chinese feels insecure, which shows the situation of freedom of speech in China is getting worse.
Even though pertinent regulation of China’s constitution provides that the common has the right to freedom of speech, it merely written form that practically performs no function. Obviously, what the China communist government does is diametrically opposed to the idea of democracy and freedom. Each person has the right to freedom of speech, and everyone need that right. The China communist government restricts the public’s freedom of speech at the expense of numerous human resources, material resources, and financial resources, the reason why they do so is that if the people have the right to freedom of speech, then the one-party autocracy will end, and a constitutional government in China of multi-parties taking turns on government is just around the corner.
