Even though the Chinese government made a promise to promote human rights, the condition of human rights in China has not yet been improved for years; therefore, several member states frequently introduce bills about the problem of China’s human rights during meetings held by the United Nations, and appeal to the United Nations to press China to improve human rights. Facing the international society’s great outcry about improving human rights, the Chinese government ever made some concessions, and adopted measures for the improvement of human rights, for example, advancing freedom of speech and the press, releasing several dissidents, and upholding dialogues with the public, etc.
Generally speaking, there are no fundamental changes take place in the condition of China’s human rights. Facts have proved that: the Chinese government continues refusing any kind of political reform, and goes ahead with one-party dictatorship. In that case, the condition of human rights in China will not obtain fundamental improvements.
The first thing the Chinese government should do is respecting human rights. The respect to human rights is in accord with the term of “Universal Declaration of Human Rights” set by the United Nations, and complies with universal value of human rights, and corresponds with the development trend of human morals and civilization. We appeal to the Chinese government to take concrete actions to improve human rights, create a favorable environment of human rights, and make all Chinese people obtain human rights and freedom.
