Wang, Haichen: Appeal to the Chinese Government to Pay Attention to Environmental Pollution

The alarming consequences caused by the environmental pollution have been exercising a pernicious influence on the Chinese people’s life. Hardly anybody of the Chinese government pays attention to the living conditions of those who are impoverished and underprivileged. Some areas where the economy develops rapidly, the local governments neglect environmental protection in one-sided pursuit of economic growth and benefits. Also, due to radiation effect produced by economically developed areas, the increase of the remote areas’ economy is driven, but the environmentally deteriorated area is expanding. It could be said that environmental protection becomes the bottleneck of China’s economic development. It is worrying that the Chinese government only pursues economic interest but ignores environmental protection.
For years, the problem of environmental pollution in Chinese areas has been increasingly grave. Not only does the problem endanger the local areas, but also it poses a threat to the environment of surrounding countries. The problem becomes a potential danger to the world environment. The international society and environmental conservation organizations demand concrete measures for environmental preservation from the Chinese government. The Chinese nation’s consciousness of environmental protection is waking up, that is to say, the people ask for fresh air as well as clean water. The public’s clamor for protecting homeland is getting louder. We appeal to the Chinese government for concern about environmental protection, more investment in environmental conservation, strict law enforcement, and contributions to environmental preservation.
