The Chinese government always makes use of national conflict for building up its prestige. In recent years, due to the government’s permissiveness, several clashes took place among ethnic groups in Tibet and Xinjiang. During the course of suppressing riots, the government arrested and persecuted people who asked for rights.
For more than fifty years, the Chinese government has been depriving the Tibetans of their rights to pursue freedom and human rights. For many years, the Chinese government has also been arresting the Uighurs. All facts prove that: the Chinese government does not meet its commitment of improving human rights.
In the past few years, there was little improvement made in the condition of human rights in China. A large number of dissidents are still under arrest in China. The government sternly controls the media, Internet, and public opinion. The public is prohibited from voicing different views. If the Chinese government continues disregarding of the voice of the international society, and refusing to take action to improve the condition of human rights, then it will cause huge loss to the country’s international image. Consequently, the Chinese government should make an effort to improve the condition of human rights, and perform what it promises to the international society.
