Chen, Yude: Calling for a multi-party Democratic Constitutional System in China
陈玉德(Chen,Yude)
It has been over sixty years since the Chinese Communist party first gets its authoritarian ruling. The government has created many tragedies, like the Cultural Revolution, 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre, the persecution of Falun Gong, etc. These events shocking the whole world are the products of China’s authoritarian government. Today, the Chinese government is still persecuting people who are pursuing democracy, freedom and human rights, continuing to restrict the freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Many people are arrested by the Chinese Communist regime, detained and tortured mentally and physically. Some even pay their lives.
In a country with long-ruling one-party authoritarian, the official corruption is very prevalent. The number of people who are in corruption is very large; People’s democratic awareness is not high; people are not allowed to attend politics.
In a multi-party ruling democracy country, the legislative, judicial and administrative sections are separated. People’s political life is very free and active; they have the awareness of democracy; the power of government and officials are transparent, being subject to legal constraints and public scrutiny. There are seldom problems of corruption. Therefore, China is called to applying a multi-party democratic constitutional system.
