Liu, Xiongchuan: Chen,Guangchen is a Hero Fighting for Righteous
A blind civil rights activist, Chen, GuangCheng, who worked on human rights issues in Linyi, Shandong, China. During his childhood, he got illness causing him blind. He becomes a human rights lawyer through self-study after coming of age. Chen Guangcheng opposes the Chinese Communist government's family planning policy, so he helps the his own villagers and other villages to safeguard fundamental human rights, and to resist the Chinese Communist local government compulsory abortion, abortion, ligation and sterilization measures. Communist authorities trumped-up charges of "damaging public property and disrupting traffic" arrest of Chen Guangcheng. On August 24, 2006, Chinese Communist authorities sentenced Chen GuangCheng to four years and three months. He was released to go home in September 2010.
After Chen Guangcheng went home, the Chinese Communists conducted surveillance, day and night, guarding Chen Guangcheng in the Shandong Linyi home. Chen Guangcheng completely loss his freedom. At the same time, he and his family were often harassed and intimidated. The victims reported to the police. The police not only disregard what happened, but also threaten whoever reported.
In the past many years, the Chinese Communist strengthen the surveillance and persecution of dissidents. Chen Guangcheng was imprisoned in his own home. Chen Guangcheng was the plight of the concern by the international community, the democratic state and government as well as China's human rights activists. Beacuse the U.S. government's concern and help, Chen Guangcheng and his family landed in New York Newark Airport on May 19, 2012 by the United Airline No. 88. Chen Guangcheng family can safely rescued and regain freedom shedding a hope to those sufferred long-term persecution of political dissendents in China. Chen Guangcheng is a hero of the struggle for justice.
