Jin, Longhui：Chinese Government Should Value Environment Protection

Ever since open-up economic reform, Chinese economies has been growing with accelerating GDP year-on-year. However, due to the over emphases on fundamental industries, energy consumption has been increased to a large extent, which inflicted significant pressure on environmental protection project in China. Look around in China, the pollution there is very serious. Air pollution, water pollution and agricultural products like vegetables and fruit in a certain areas have all been exposed to pollution in different degrees. The river is withering, the ice is melting, the wetlands are shrinking, and the global warming have all bring huge negative effects on China.
For years, Chinese government has been prioritizing economic development, placing economy higher than environment protection. To Chinese government’s minds, economic growth helps enhance national strength, increasing job opportunities and improving people’s lives.
Today, it can been seen that the economy has been growing at the cost of the environment and it’s tremendous cost. It is completely wrong to put economic development over anything else. The environmental pollution has become a serious problem. Therefore, we are calling for Chinese governments to value environment and develop economy in a sustainable way and along with environment protection.
