Qiang, Junmin: Commemorating 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre, Achieving Democracy and Freedom
强俊民(Qiang,Junmin)
1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre has passed 23 years. That year, from the beginning of the spring in 1989, more and more students and ordinary people openly participated in demonstrations and rallies asking to punish corrupted officials, and it lasted several months. In order to quell the spread of the situation, Chinese government used army, used force to suppress it. In the early morning of June 4, 1989, the armed troops entered Tiananmen Square. Many students and civilians participated in the demonstration fell down; they paid the price using blood and life.
Over the 23 years, Chinese government is trying to play down the event, prohibits the media publicly reported the Tiananmen Square Massacre, does not allow people to commemorate it, and tries to let people forget it. Today, the Tiananmen Square Massacre has passed 23 years. We call the Chinese government not forget the event, respect history, fairly and justly show the truth of the Tiananmen Square Massacre. Meanwhile, the government has to push political reform, gradually accept democracy and freedom, improve human rights, and achieve rule of law.
