Sun, Jian: The Chinese Government Has to Let People Have the Opportunity to Eat Safe Food

The Chinese government and Chinese people have a common point while facing the importance of food safety problem. The common point is that people is the basic of a country, food is the basic of the people, security is the basic of the food. That also means food safety relate to majority of people and thousands of families. In recent years, various types of food safety incidents never end, food safety has a direct impact on people’s health, even it can threats to people’s life. While eating meat and aquatic products, people worry that the food contain growth hormone; while eating vegetables, people worry that they contain toxins; while drinking drinks, people worry that they are mixed with pigment.
Sanlu milk powder incident, Sudan red event, swill-cooked dirty oil incident, and the recent poison capsule event, all these strongly affect people’s heart. The successive occurrence of food safety incidents raises people’s high concern about food safety.
With the continuous development of China’s economy, the global economy is moving towards integration, people’s food culture become increasingly diverse, food hygiene and safety become a very hot topic. Though food safety has already had its standard and legal protection provisions, the implementation of these is still very hard. I am calling the public to enhance the awareness of food safety, have a comprehensive understanding of food safety knowledge, popularize scientific knowledge of food safety, improve people’s quality, letting the public eat safely, eat happily, and eat comfortably.
