Yu, Yao: It is more Important to Pay Attention to Environmental Protection than Economy Development

All the people from China has a common understanding, in China, the sky is often filled with smoke and dust, and garbage can be seen everywhere. Once, in order to develop economy, the Chinese government fully develops natural resources, like timber, minerals, coal and oil resources. In order to reduce cost, and vigorously stimulate industrial development, during the process, many industries discharge wastewater directly into rives or lakes and discharge waste gas directly into atmosphere. Over the years, China’s environmental pollution is very serious, and makes people worried a lot.
China’s forest area, grassland area and wetland are reducing quickly because of the over-exploitation of mineral, coal and oil resources, excessive deforestation and destruction of wetland. Today, there are many phenomenon happed in some areas, like serious soil erosion, desertification, global warning, typhoon, acid rain, hail, flood, and landslide. All these are the consequences of people destroy the natural environment.
The Chinese government should recognize the serious consequence of environmental degradation. Here, I am calling the Chinese government to strengthen the environmental protection legislation as soon as possible, be strict with the law enforcement, and strengthen people’s general education of environmental protection. The government should pay attention to economic development, but should pay more attention to the environmental protection.
