Thirty years ago, Chinese government enacted and implemented the one-child policy in order to control the rapid growth of population. At that time, for the purpose of advocating the so-called benefits of this policy, the government made up a lot false facts to beautify birth control policy. Many people in china were deceived by the propaganda of the one-child policy and the misleading of media, in which they attributed the country’s poverty and backwardness to overpopulation. As a matter of fact, the implementation of the one-child policy has resulted in much more serious social and economic problems in China.
The one-child policy has been implemented for more than thirty years, during this period violent execution emerged across the country. Atrocities such as compulsory birth control operation, forcible abortion and induction of labor emerge in endlessly. The forcible execution of the one-child policy has led to immeasurable harm to Chinese women; hundreds of millions of women suffered all kinds of diseases, lifelong infertility and even death.
The one-child policy, mainly implemented by threats such as force and penalty in the past thirty years, is a tragedy in China. The one-child policy is the most significant decision-making error of Chinese government. At the present, a large group of experts, scholars and officers who with a conscience and a sense of social responsibility advocate stopping executing the one-child policy, in order to improve human rights situation in China and to build a harmonious society.
