Liu, Xiuying: Birth Control is Abusing Human Rights

Thirty years ago, the social status of women in China is very low, and the government never treats women with human rights. Chinese government attributes the problem of poverty to overpopulation and the rapid growth of birth rate. In order to artificially control the population, Chinese government carried out an unprecedented family plan movement and implemented such measure in the nationwide. After the plan implemented, forcible abortion, induction of labor and ligation existed in the implementation. Dozens of years later, hundreds of millions of Chinese women have suffered physical and mental persecution in different degree.
The one-child policy not only destroyed Chinese women’s physical and mental health, but also trampled on their basic human rights, and it’s totally contrary to the purposes of Universal Declaration of Human Rights as well as the natural law. Therefore the one-child policy does more harm than good from today’s perspective.
I, a Chinese woman, strongly protest against the one-child policy in china, and urge Chinese government abolishing this inhumane policy, giving basic human rights to Chinese women.
