Chen, Yanfang: Strongly Condemning China’s One-child Policy

China has implemented birth control policy for more than thirty years, for the purpose of controlling the rapid growth of China’s population, and promoting economic development. The one-child policy has been implemented in the nationwide, and all the women of childbearing age, regardless of their race and age, are included in the execution of the policy. The harm that the forcible execution of the policy to the women is beyond people’s imagination, some local governments’ family-planning officials execute forcible abortion and ligation to those pregnant women that without fertility approvals issued by the government. At the same time, the officials use fine, abuse and other persecution methods to execute the policy.
My mother, who is now in China, used to suffered the persecution from the family-planning policy, and got severe physical and mental hurt. As her daughter, I feel painful very much, I strongly condemning China’s one-child policy. The policy tramples Chinese women’s basic human rights, breaks hundreds and thousands families, it is a policy of keeping people in ignorance.
As a government, it must provide the people with basic right to live, and the right to live is a basic right for reproduction, any organization or government cannot deprive this basic right, China’s birth control policy kills human lives and deprives human’s basic right to live. So I strongly urge Chinese government stop executing the one-child policy.
