Cheng, Jianghe: Hoping Chinese Government Pay Attention to Environment Protection

China’s economic is developing rapidly, while environment pollution is getting worse, in order to keep the growth of economic development, governments at all levels ignore environment protection works. Thousands of factories exhaust waste gas directly into the sky and discharge waste water directly into lakes and rivers. For decades, in many places of China, the air and water is stinking, and fish cannot live. The vegetable and fruit that looks fresh and clean actually contain excessive pesticide. China’s environment is instantly getting worse, which causes ecological crisis: glaciers melting, rivers drying up, forest area decreasing, grassland degradation, and desertification expanding.
According to some environmental organizations’ report, the polluted air in China now begin to bring disaster to neighboring countries, the polluted air even passes though the Pacific Ocean and reaches the west coast of America. The serious environment problem in China has reached the bottom line of the international environment safety standard. Facing such a severe environment problem, Chinese government has to take the primary responsibility.
I hope Chinese government enhancing the legislation of environment protection, improving people’s environment protection awareness and curbing the pollution, and fulfill the responsibility for an economic giant in the area of environment protection.
