Yu, Chunyan: Chinese Government Must Pay Attention to the Problem of Food Safety

In China, food Safety incident happens every day, fake cigarette, fake wine, fake medicine, and fake food can be seen everywhere. The vegetables and fruits that produced in some severely polluted area seems to be very fresh from the outside, while they are inedible since they contain highly excessive toxic elements as well as pesticide, which always leads to poison incident.
There are many causes in the back of each food safety incident: as a government, which should find out the real cause of these food safety incidents, because it relates to everyone’s health and life safety. In these years, the increasing number of food safety incident is not an accident, which involves the reasonableness of the food safety management system, and this system involves the current social system of China.
Under China’s one-party autocracy, powers are excessively centralized, so that the government not only controls the political and natural resources, but also controls media, judicial power and the food safety management departments. In order to solve the food safety problem, the most effective way is to fundamentally reform Chinese social system, and realize democracy and the rule of law.
