Recently, China News Net reported that Kunming Children’s Hospital sales water to patients and their family members for 0.5 Yuan/Cup, when facing the doubts, the staffs of the hospital claim that providing free hot water would lead to the loss of state assets. On March 23, under the pressure of Medias, Kunming Children’s Hospital added buckets to provide free hot water to clients as well as their relatives.
As a public hospital, it racks its brain trying to make money from the patients, instead of try its best to improve its service, which makes people wonder where the medical ethics is! To our surprise, while the hospital is selling the hot water, it does it in the name of preventing the loss of national property, which making people laughing their heads off. If the hot water belongs to national property, then, relevant department should investigate that whether the money from the hot water business went to natural treasury or went to someone’s private bank account.
Charging 0.5 Yuan for a cup of hot water is not a big deal, but through this incident, we can see the fact that the public hospitals are not longer belong to public service agencies. In addition, the ridiculous things that some public hospitals do that go against their public property are far more than selling hot water. Shortly before, the media reported some hospitals in Shandong even charge the patients 3 Yuan’s “transfusion chair fee”. 0.5 Yuan is not much, 3 Yuan is also not much, but it reflects the fact that public hospitals don’t think for the people and only seek profits.
