Huang, Bo: Deng, Yujiao’s Case: Corruption Causes Government Crisis of Confidence
黄波(Huang,Bo)
According to Sina News report, on May 10, 2009 around 8:00 pm, in Xiongfeng hotel Menghuancheng located in Yesanguan Town, Badong County, Hubei Province, China, one Chinese Communist Party official was stabbed to death because of his, accompanied by other two officials, sexual harassment to a waitress Deng, Yujiao. Why this simple case would lead Badong government into a crisis of confidence?
Because of the fuzzy plot of this case released by the police, the public has a huge imaginary space. From May 10 to June 16, several events happened such as the defendant lawyer get “fired”, officials of Yeshanguan Town beat journalists, and the “half-curfew” in Badong city, which increased the opposition between the people and Badong government. Thus, Badong government got into a severe crisis of confidence.
Chinese government is corrupt, officials are even more corrupt, and such corruption exists in the field of politics, economy, education, and medical treatment. Corruption is very ashamed and caused the Chinese government get into long-term crisis of confidence. However, the Chinese government does everything to conceal corruption, just as the king of Yao dynasty used soil to control flood, which would only makes more violent flood.
