Li, Yinhua: Environment Protection is An Important Task of the Chinese Government

My hometown used to be a beautiful place when I was young, where there has blue sky, fresh air, clear rivers and brooks, as well as living forests and grasslands, and in which people could enjoy fresh vegetables and fruits every day. Decades later, however, the Chinese government severely pollutes the environment in exchange for economic development.
Today, local government and officials in my hometown do everything to trample natural resources, for the purpose of economic development. Forests are destroyed and the grassland is increasingly degenerated; the air and water source suffers pollution so that the sky is no longer blue, and sand storm, flood, drought and other natural calamities occur every year.
Environment pollution threats Chinese people’s life safety, so the Chinese government must reflect and review its problems. We urge the Chinese government taking effective measures to reduce the air and water pollution, enhancing the investment towards environment protection, increasing energy efficiency, promoting the legislation and execution of environment protection, maintaining ecological balance, and make a contribution to environment protection.
