Wang, Baoqun: Commemorate the “June 4” Incident, Keep the History in Mind
王宝群(Wang,Baoqun)
Twenty-three years ago, in the late spring of 1989, more than one million students and citizens in Beijing launched a peace demonstration themed “Fight Against Corruption, Severely Punish Corruption”, which urged the Chinese government to open the freedom of speech and the freedom of press, as well as to implement political and economical reforms.
However, in the morning of June 4, the ruling party Chinese Communist regime commanded a 200-thousand people’s armed force equipped with tanks and machine guns to massacre the students and citizens who participated in the demonstration and parade, in which some people died under the tanks and some died in front of guns, the scene of which was terrible. Thus, the Chinese government suppressed the unprecedented democratic movement by force.
For 23 years, the Chinese Communist Regime refuses political reform, and the problem of corruption is even more serious, as well as the violation of human rights and the restrain of speech. The government still trying to prevent the people from knowing the truth of the “June 4” incident, and it bans the media from publishing articles and pictures regarding to the incident. By doing this, the government intends to cover up the truth. The Chinese Communist Regime says that it had no choice but to suppress the movement, and the people died were mobs. The Chinese government wants to eliminate the “June 4” massacre from people’s memory. Today, we commemorate the 23th anniversary of “June 4” incident, and urge the Chinese government to severely punish corrupt officials, and to stop violence, establishing a social system with democracy and freedom.
