23 years ago, in the morning of June 4, 1989, then Chinese government sent regular army to Beijing urban area and entered Tiananmen Square; the roar of tanks together with the harsh gunshot broke the quite night sky. Some died under the soldiers’ gun, while some were crushed by tanks to death, of which the scene was too horrible to look at, some of which were students and citizens in peacetime, which were ordinary Chinese people, what they did is just participated in the rally that urging the government to punish corrupt officials as well as asking for a political reform. However, they had paid a heavy price with blood and lives.

Nowadays, the 1989 “June 4” incident has passed 23 years, among the students and citizens who participated in the “June 4” movement, youngsters now become middle-aged men, and middle-aged men turn to elders. As survivors from that incident who are now living unknown, although some of them broke their legs, arms and ribs, they still possess a strong belief of democracy and freedom in the depth of their heart.

Amid the 23rd year after the “June 4” incident, we want to specially mark those who lost their lives for their ideals, and we ask for Chinese government to respect this history and to take the responsibility to apologize to the family members of the victims, as well as publicly compensate them, to let the dead rest in peace, since they are heroes of Chinese nation.
