Xu, Xiaokang: Think Chinese Corruption Phenomenon from Bo Case
徐小康(Xu,Xiaokang)
The phenomenon of Chinese official corruption has been always serious; China is a country with large population with rapid economic development, while corruption exists in everywhere, from government agencies to enterprises, the problem is deteriorating. On the one hand, Bo case reflects political power fights; on the other hand, it is a typical case of the senior official’s corruption.
After Bo’s fall, the central government launches political study and propaganda across the country, in order to stable hearts. For example, on April 10, 2012, Chongqing city people's congress standing committee studies the decision of opening investigation to Bo’s severe disciplinary violation; Shanxi provincial party committee holds a cadre conference to convey the decision made by party's Central Commission for Discipline Inspection to open investigation over Bo; Enlarged meeting of the Party Standing Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Region conveys and studies the sprite of relevant files from the central government. Did these efforts really eradicate corruption in China? No.
In China, the school bus that values tens of thousands Yuan has to load more than 60 students, while the hundreds of thousands Yuan’s limousine only sits one government official. The officials pay no attention to people’s medical care problem, since they have their special ward; they care less about education, since their children could study abroad; they ignore food safety, since they could enjoy special supplied food; they neglect traffic problems, since they have police escorting; they are indifferent to the nation’s future, since their family members have immigrated to abroad. Facts prove that, as long as China remains undemocratic, the nation and the people will have no hope.
