Sun, Zhen: Ask for Chinese Government Giving A Justice to the Deceased in 89 “June 4” Incident
孙振(Sun,Zhen)
The 89 “June 4” incident was a movement with the goal of anti-corruption, anti-official profiteering, and boosting democratic politics. 23 years ago, from the spring of 1989, centered by Beijing, millions of students and ordinary people took to the street to launch parades and demonstrations, demanding the Chinese government to punish corruption and to promote democratic political reform. However, the government ignored the people’s appealing, and then part of students went on hunger strike, which escalated this incident. Although the Chinese government was compelled to conduct dialogue with the students, no definite answer was gave to the demonstrators. In the morning of June 4th, the Chinese government sent armed force to forcibly suppress the demonstrators, during which thousands of people died, thus the democratic move ended in the scene of bloody Chang’an Street and Tiananmen Square.
From the prospective of Chinese history, The 89 “June 4th” incident is the most significant and persevering big event aims to anti-autocracy, anti-bureaucrat, anti-corruption, pursuing social fairness and justice, and pursuing democratic freedom. Thus, in the eve of June 4th every year, people around the world commemorate the “June 4th” incident in different manners.
Now 23 years have passed, there is no official record of the deceased’s name and identity, and it is impossible for the government to publish such information to the International community. The reason why the deceased as well as their families cannot get a justice for 23 years and why nobody take the responsibility for the suppression of the democratic move is that the autocratic system never changes, people still live under force and horror, which is a very sad thing.
