Cui, Zhongguo: Chinese Ordinary People have the Right to Pursue Democratic Freedom
崔忠国(Cui,Zhongguo)
Many ordinary Chinese people have lived in the bottom of the society for a long time, who were marginalized by the extremely autocratic system in China, and then became among vulnerable group that being exploited and trampled. Under the extremely autocratic system, there is a rigid hierarchy between the people, over years, the autocratic culture keeps idiotizing and poisoning Chinese people, which leads the people lacking self-protection consciousness. Many totally rely on the ruling class, and they are humble as well as are at the mercy of others, some even live just for the sake of remaining alive.
Influenced by Chinese autocratic history and feudal culture, many Chinese people lack “Democratic freedom consciousness”, or such consciousness is not strong, and they would rather being a “law-abiding” man than struggling for the rights they deserve and to effectively protect their benefits. Although the living standard of today’s Chinese people, to some extent, has improved, and the people’s rights and benefits got certain protection, the autocratic system determines that ordinary Chinese people are still in subordinate position.
The ordinary Chinese people belong to vulnerable group, but they have the right to pursue democratic freedom. How to transit Chinese society into a society with democratic freedom and enabling ordinary Chinese people enjoy democratic freedom is the primary task for Chinese democratic reform.
