In the early morning of June 4th, 1989, Chinese government ordered army to enter into the urban area of Beijing, during the march the soldiers willfully shot to the sky and even to the fleeing people around, which caused many people got shot to death and even more injuries. After the people got killed, the bodies were being piled together that looked like a hill, a small number of the relatives of the deceased were allowed to claim the bodies, while most of the bodies were forcibly cremated. Afterward, a large-scale cleaning and repair work launched in Tiananmen Square and surrounding area, cleaning the bloodstain and fixing the bullet hole, in order to destroy the proof of the slaughter. The bloody slaughter incident was the later called the 1989 “June 4th” Event.

The 1989 “June 4th” Event becomes a significant injustice in the history, for many years, the Chinese government banned the people from keeping the materials, videos and pictures about the suppression of the event, and when the June 4th comes, the government prohibited the people from commemorating the event by holding rallies or any other forms.

At the 23rd anniversary of the “June 4th” event, we recall those moments to mark the event, since it is unforgettable, and it’s a wound of the country and the nation. We take this opportunity to look back the history, and to learn from the history, in order to promote Chinese society moving towards democracy and freedom.
