Zou, Yuan: Appeal for Chinese Government to Stop Blockading the Internet
邹源(Zou,Yuan)
For a long time, Chinese government restrict people’s freedom of speech, which mainly by the means of Internet blockade. The government has advanced network monitoring technology: in China, vocabularies like “Freedom”, “Democracy”, “Human rights” are intercepted and blockaded. There is also a censorship system to prohibit the websites that their contents do not get through the censorship from accessing the Internet.
At the same time, China’s news and network management departments trace and censor all the net bars, requiring all the net bars to register and pass the censorship. For those failed to register or pass the censorship, they would not get the certificate of business issued by the network management department, or their licenses would be revoked and have to close the business.
Now there are hundreds of millions netizens in China, most of which are young people who prefer to surf the internet at a net bar. The government implements a mandatory network read name system in the name of keeping the young people away from the negative, unhealthy contents on the Internet. However, the real purpose true cause is that the concepts of democracy, freedom, and human rights could spread through the Internet, which affects the stability of the government and the ruling party.
We urge the Chinese government to stop the censorship to the Internet, abolishing the censorship system as soon as possible, giving a comprehensive, just, and fair Internet environment back to the public.
