The democratic movement has been passed 23 years, and back then, students and residents took to the street to shouting slogans like “Fight against official profiteering”, “Eradicate Corruption”, and “Practice Political Reform”, which still remain vividly in thousands of millions of Chinese people’s mind. In the eve of June 4th every year, people around the world would commemorate the event by various means.

Although the event has been passed 23 years, the spirit of the democratic movement, mainly participated by students, has deeply rooted in people’s memory. In 1989, the central government sent army to cruelly suppress the democratic movement, to gain time and space for the officials getting involve in corruption, which makes the corrupt officials being more audacious and being more insatiable for money. The widespread corruption in China has resulted in the uneven distribution in society, and widened the gap between rich and poor, the social contradiction is sharpening.

The “June 4th” event arouses Chinese people’s consciousness of democracy, freedom and human rights, while the communist government still refuses democracy as well as keeps trampling human rights; the Chinese people ask for the government taking the responsibility for violently suppressing the movement, and making a public apology; at the same time, launching a political reform to practice multi-party democratic system in China.
