Liu, Minglan: Appeal Chinese Government to Respect the Truth of June 4th Event in 1989

23 years ago, in the early morning of June 4th, 1989, Chinese government sent armed force to forcibly suppressed the students and citizens who participated in rallies and demonstrations that “ask for punishing corruption, promoting political reform”. Chinese government created the world-shocking June 4th slaughter incident in 1989.
The June 4th event has passed 23 years, the current Chinese government refuses to implement political reform, the phenomenon of official corruption is getting worse year by year, the government and its officials are keep infringing human rights, as well as are keep suppressing free speech and covering up the truth of the June 4th slaughter incident, banning domestic media from publishing articles and pictures relate to the event.
The June 4th event left an incurable wound to the country and the people, we hope to urge Chinese government to respect historical truth and to learn from the history, by commemorating the June 4th event in 1989. Violence will never solve any problem, and neither will conquer Chinese people’s belief of pursuing democracy and freedom. We ask for Chinese government to severely punish corrupt officials, and to stop using violence, to improving human rights situation, and eventually to establish a multi-party democratic constitutionalism in China.
