Wu, Jihuan: Environmental Pollution in China Worries Everyone
吴基焕(Wu,Jihuan)
With the rapid economic development and improvement of people’s living standard, the problem of environmental pollution is standing out. Currently, in China from cities to rural areas, the problem of environmental pollution is gradually deteriorating. The environment in less developed areas and remote areas has suffered pollution on different degree. According to network media, 70 % of rivers and lakes in China have been polluted, more than half of Chinese cities that air quality is substandard for a long time.
For the development of economy, and for the work performance of the officials, the government excessively exploits and utilizes natural sources, wantonly destroying forests and trampling meadows; excessively using the industrial and agricultural water, which leads to the rapid shrinking of rivers and lakes and the decline of water quality; the rate of desertization is speeding up, and the frequency that natural disasters happen is increasing; this series of changes illustrate the deterioration of the environment in China.
Many plants in China directly discharge untreated waste gas, sewage water, waste materials to the nature, this problem accounts for the primary factor for the devastation and pollution of the environment in China. In recent years, the government is unprepared for the increasing cases of environmental pollution, which draw general attention from the international community; therefore, enhancing environmental protection is the first primary job for the Chinese government.
